Pirates of the Caribbean 6 could take a fresh direction by focusing on Angelica, Jack Sparrow's former love interest and Blackbeard's daughter, allowing her complex character to lead the story if Johnny Depp does not return.

Pirates of the Caribbean 6 is an exciting prospect for fans, even though Johnny Depp’s return as Jack Sparrow remains uncertain. While Depp’s iconic role is hard to replace, one character from previous films could serve as a compelling lead in his absence. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer recently confirmed that he has discussed the possibility of Depp returning, though nothing is yet set, leaving room for a fresh approach to the franchise with or without him.
One strong option for the lead could be Angelica, a character who was underutilized in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. Played by Penélope Cruz, Angelica is Jack’s former love interest and the daughter of the infamous Blackbeard. Despite her potential, her character was overshadowed by the male leads and was largely confined to supporting Jack’s storyline and Blackbeard’s quest. Angelica’s complex relationships with both Jack and her father could allow for a deeper character arc, particularly if her loyalty and inner conflict over her father’s ruthless nature were further explored. By revisiting Angelica’s story with a fresh focus on her intelligence and independence, Pirates of the Caribbean 6 could deliver a refreshing take on the franchise.
